Cover reveal: The Heart by Rachel Higginson and a Giveaway!

Hi!
Today I'm happy to share this cover reveal of the third book in The Siren Series by Rachel Higginson. Are you ready? Here it is:
The cover makes me curious about the story and seems a little mysterious.

The Heart will be released on March 26th, BUT you can get the first book in the Siren series for free now!

Let me tell you a little about this series:

The Siren Series:
This series starts with the first book, here's the synopsis of The Rush:

Synopsis
'A life not her own—A future already decided.

Every facet of Ivy Pierce’s life is meticulously planned out and plotted. Cynical and jaded by sixteen, Ivy’s only hope is to escape the legacy she was born into.

She has a plan, a carefully thought out, feasible plan. She just has to play by the rules until everything falls into place. Unfortunately as predictable as her life can be, she never sees Ryder Sutton coming. He tumbles into her life unimpressed and untouched by her and the life she lives. He’s an enigma to her. A gorgeous, frustrating, sincere mystery and a complete phenomenon in the ugly world she lives in.

What blooms between them is a fiercely intense attraction that cannot be ignored. Even though they would both be better off without each other—Even if both their lives depend on staying apart.'

Some opinions

  • Lila Felix, Author of Burden and The Love & Skate Series -- This is a magnificent ride on the mythological side--but with an exciting contemporary flare. Rachel nailed it with The Siren Series.
  • Mandy from I Read Indie book blog -- It is a book that keeps your interest and eager to find its secrets. Secrets that are well worth the wait. I am absolutely anticipating book 2.

Book to Movie adaptation: Sense and Sensibility

Title: Sense and Sensibility
Movie release date: December 1995
Director: Ang Lee
Cast: Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson.
Orginial Book: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, published in 1811.

Expectations

I have high expectations of this movie. I'm very excited to see this story come to live on screen. If you want, you can check out my book review on Sense and Sensibility.

Movie review

I'm so happy this movie didn't disappoint me!
It was amazing! The whole movie stayed so close to the original story , which was great. There are some minor changes, but those are small details. I think the movie was done beautifully and honored the Jane Austen novel perfectly.

I think they did a great job casting the right actors for all the characters. I thought every single person was spot on. Even Charlotte and her husband and of course Fanny (hate her).
Kate Winslet portrayed Marianne very well. The connection between Marianne and Elinor was played beautifully.
I also loved the awkwardness of Edward, played by Hugh Grant.

Through the entire movie the atmosphere was just right. It really showed the connection of the sisters and at the same time it showed the differences between them.

Rating

It was amazing!!

Thanks for the recommendations on what Jane Austen book I should read next, I think I will start with Pride and Prejudice or Emma soon.

Have a great day!

Review: Sense and Sensibility

Title: Sense and Sensibility
Author: Jane Austen
Release date: first published in 1811!
Age group: Young adult
Pages: 403

Synopsis:
'The more I know of the world, the more am I convinced that I shall never see a man whom I can really love. I require so much!'

Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor's warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her. Through their parallel experience of love—and its threatened loss—the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love.

Expectations
I've never read a Jane Austen novel and I'm so curious and excited that I finally will read a book of her. The idea that this has been published in 1811 really intrigues and interests me.
It's just so amazing that I can read a story that has been written 200 years ago!

Review

So..were to begin..
This book is mind-blowing..

This is the first book I've read by Jane Austen. In the beginning I had to adjust to the old language but I got used to that fairly quickly. I love the way she describes a person or a situation and I like the kind of humor.

I feel like her writing goes deeper than just telling a story. The writing is so accurate that I can see some resemblance in life today. In the way we communicate with each other or cope with emotions.

There were some slow parts in the book and the thing that irritated me were the countless invitations to each others houses.

After reading this, I get why this is a classic.I really get it. It's such a beautifully written story. Jane Austen was a genius. I feel like this book has opened my eyes for classics and makes me want to read more classics AND definitely more books by Jane Austen.
The relationship-problems she describes can somehow be translated to this time. She wrote this more than 200 years ago, and she gets me laughing but also really understanding the pain a character can go through.

I think it's magnificent how Jane Austen describes this story. She really knows how to write down the feelings, even though I read this in the old-language of her days, it still feels like she understands how we can feel in 2015.

Here are some lovely quotes from Sense and Sensibility:

“The more I know of the world, the more I am convinced that I shall never see a man whom I can really love. I require so much!”

“It isn't what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.”

Rating

I loved it and I hope her other books are as lovely as this one! I wanted to give it 4,5 stars, but since I don't do half-star-rating, I'm giving Sense and Sensibility the full 5 stars!

If you have a suggestion on which Jane Austen book should I read next, please tell me in the comments below.

Season Three, Episode One Blurb:

Zombies- as if that wasn’t enough to ruin any girl’s dream of a happily ever after.

It’s been six months since Reagan Willow fled the Colony and Matthias Allen’s tyrannical clutches. Six months since she broke Hendrix Parker’s heart. Six months since she watched Kane Allen sacrifice his life to save hers.

Whatever was left of her already-tattered life during the Zombie Apocalypse fell apart six months ago. Now, on the cusp of crossing the Mexican border, there is hope that she might lead her friends to a better existence.

Except Zombies are only the beginning of their problems. Reagan and her friends must battle the elements, armies of Feeders and bounty hunters desperate to drag them back to the Colony to face their greatest threat.

January Wrap up!

Hi guys,

Here's my January Wrap up :)

Read:

Unfortunately this month I didn't have much time to read. I did finish reading Sense and Sensibility, my first book by Jane Austen. I will write my review soon and share my thoughts on this story.

I also started reading two other books:

The Morrow Secrets

This is a fantasy/horror middle grade book which I received for review. I'm only a few chapters in but like it so far.
A Game of Thrones
Yes, I finally started the Song of Ice and Fire series! I'm about 100 pages in and I love the writing already. I like reading each chapter from a different persons view and I didn't think I would like that.
