Synopsis

This is the story of Teague and Cailin, two teenagers who have been brought together by fate. Teague, a human, struggles to come to terms with the consequences of a recent accident that has destroyed the happy life that he had once enjoyed. Cailin, a pixi, is trying to stay true to herself while fighting against forces beyond her control that have exiled her from her home into this strange world of humans. She fears the darkness. He cannot escape it. But when the two of them are thrown together, they begin to discover the light inside of themselves.

Expectations

I've never actually read a book with a pixi in it, so I'm very curious about this one. The synopsis sound interesting.

Review:

I really liked the beginning of the story and immediately liked the main character Cailin (she's a pixie).

Cailins character is well described, she's a stubborn girl with her own ideas and style, which isn't always appreciated. Even though this bothers her, she keeps being unique and sticks to her own opinion. I really liked that about her.

Teague was not that likable in the beginning, but his behavior was understandable considering the accident and the consequences it had for him.

I thought Teague bonded with Cailin too quickly. For me it was hard to believe that Teague, who is depressed and is drinking lots of alcohol every day, stops drinking and starts laughing with Cailin this fast. This took away a bit of the credibility of the story.

I did like the way the growing relationship between them has been described and the focus on their friendship.

The writing was nice to read, I flew through this book :) Sometimes there were changes between first and third person writing, which could be a little confusing. And there were some edit errors, but that didn't bother me much.

The pixie-world was so fun to read about, and very well described. It was easy to imagine this world. I also really liked it when more pixies were introduced.

Rating

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a quick read for me.I'll give it 4 stars!
